Description
Based on the shape of a 19th-century women’s wrapper tunic, this shirt is elegantly structured with a pointed collar, subtly rounded cuff, and clean buttoned front. Tailored specifically for women in our soft washed cotton-linen shirting woven in Japan, with a breathable structure that transitions easily across seasons. Completed with mother of pearl buttons for a polished finish.
Originally considered a state of undress, wrapper tunics were worn by women in the privacy of their homes while engaged in domestic work in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Unstructured and modest, they offered both function and freedom and were later adopted by a growing rebellion of female artists seeking garments that allowed for greater movement and self-expression.
